We have left the old house where we lived for 30 years and that was cared for by Joe and Carmel Builders during that time, but I still think of home as our old house. At Carmel Builders we have learned that "To Everything There is a Season….."
Though we knew there would come a day when Joe Martin would announce that the "season of retirement" arrived…I don't think we were quite prepared for it. Ever since Joe joined Carmel Builders in 1987, he has been one of our greatest assets and the face of Carmel Builders to scores of clients.
To say we will miss him is an understatement. His departure leaves a space all of us at Carmel Builders will need to work hard to fill.
Gratefully, Joe's family and co-workers, and even Carmel clients all did their part to give him a proper send off; a retirement dinner party at the Fox & Hounds. Ironically, the garden room where the festivities were held was the very same room Carmel Builders had remodeled many years ago. We raised our glasses to Joe as we shared stories and memories, presented him with a plaque of appreciation, sang a parody song to the tune of "If I had a Hammer", and enjoyed a delicious dinner.
Joe was my right hand man, long before Carmel Builders is the company it is today…I knew I could always count on him…and our clients knew it too.
Perhaps the best way I can describe what Joe meant to our company for the past 23 years is to quote what some of our long time clients wrote about Joe when they learned he was retiring.
Joe saw these letters of appreciation at the retirement party, but I want to say again: Congratulations Joe and thank you once again for 23 years of exceptional service.
